Telecommunication Engineer

Responsibilities:
Provide Tier 1 and 2 Telecommunications engineering support for the installation and troubleshooting of voice/data wiring, and coordinate power requirements for all equipment installed in the network centers, including maintaining and providing enhancements to the online reporting system and provide support for all Printback activities. Provide Operation and Engineering input for TDM and IP Telephony installations. Coordinate the installation and maintenance of voice/data communications equipment, Avaya (PBX) and Cisco (VOIP) telephone systems, communication lines and data circuits, along with maintaining the voice/data cabling at remote locations. Activate, document and provide support for wireless communication devises including working with Blackberry devices and Blackberry Enterprise Server.

Qualifications:
- 2 years experience working with installation of voice communication equipment preferred;
- 3 years experience in telecommunications preferred;
- Associates degree or technical school training in telecommunications preferred;
- Cisco CCNA certification preferred;
- Understanding of LAN/WAN technologies and layer 2 protocols (VLANs, Point to Point, Frame Relay and MPLS) required;
- In-depth understanding of functionality of Avaya and Cisco telephone systems;
- Knowledge of printback and download utilizing Barr software and Xerox high speed printers;
- Proficient in maintaining and monitoring of telecommunications cabling systems including Cat 5, Cat 6, 66 blocks, 110 panels, Krone blocks, cross-connects, and fiber optic cabling as well as proficient use of layer 1 cable testers;
- Proficient in telecommunications testing procedures including demarcation testing, voice and data circuit testing procedures, and vendor testing procedures;
- Familiarity with Blackberry Enterprise Server administration preferred;
- Good oral and written communication skills;
- Flexibility to support 24/7/365 operations to meet uptime requirements.
